One Week After The Vendée Globe Arrival

You know that in offshore sailing, after one race, the next is already on the horizon…
After the rollercoaster of the Vendée Globe, it’s time for Boris to recover.
80 days at sea with very little sleep, muscles constantly tense, and the brain always ready for action… Proper recovery takes time. Learning to walk long distances again, sleeping through an entire night, it’s all part of the process. Now, Boris finally has time to reset before the next challenges, including The Ocean Race Europe this summer. Stay tuned for more updates on our racing calendar in the coming weeks.

Just like Boris, it’s now time for Malizia - Seaexplorer to recover.
Our beloved IMOCA is still in Les Sables d’Olonne, but her winter refit is just around the corner. On Monday, the tech team will sail her back to Lorient, her home harbour, and soon after, she’ll head to the shed for a well-deserved winter (or spring?) refit. The main goal is to repair any damage and optimise her to be back in full crew racing mode. More details on the winter refit next week. Let us know if you have any questions!

Words from Boris to his team the day after arrival during a technical debrief:
"Thank you all. It’s a privilege to work with you and to be the pilot of your boat. I feel a lot of passion in the team, and I sense a great camaraderie. That’s why we enjoy being together. That is the most important thing for the next four years, however long you stay with us, to have a strong connection and to enjoy working together. I think that is why we do this.
Because we enjoy it. And because it is a special privilege to do this work. I know some of you may come and go, stepping away for a while, but you are part of the family now. And I am sure our paths will cross again.
We will always remain Malizians at heart. That, I believe, is the biggest priority for the coming years, to keep this good spirit alive.
I think the preparation of this boat for the Vendée Globe was really good, very close to perfect. I believe we had fewer issues than some of those ahead of us. Every time I had to make a repair, everything I needed was already prepared on board, and you sent me super clear and precise instructions. Thank you for that."
